    Solid 9-inch brick walls, lath-and-plaster ceilings, sometimes no foundations to speak of. Rear extensions usually mean underpinning the existing wall, careful structural opening through the back-addition, and replastering throughout to match. We've finished dozens of these — they reward patience and proper detailing.

    1930s semis (Worsbrough, Ardsley, Kendray)

    Cavity walls, decent footings, generous gardens — by far the best Barnsley property type to extend. Two-storey side or rear extensions, knock-throughs and loft conversions are our most-built jobs in these streets. Typical project value £55–110k.
